Miss Jo Duffy

Term of office start date: October 2017

When did you first become a Governor at Penkford?

October 2017

What interested you in becoming a Governor at Penkford ?

My role as a Teaching Assistant, and Literacy Champion, at Penkford is something I have thoroughly enjoyed since starting here almost four years ago. When the opportunity arose to join the Governing body as staff representative it was the perfect opportunity to develop and build on what I have already learned. and be able to share the views of staff . I am keen to get involved in the broader aspects of school life outside of the classroom. This is to give me a new outlook on other aspects of school life, not only for my own CPD but to contribute to the development of the school from a wider perspective.

What do you enjoy most about your role as Governor?

Although I have only just commenced my role I am very keen to become involved in all aspects of moving the school forward along with a very experienced team of Governors who have a great range of credentials and expertise. It will allow me to progress and further my role as Literacy Champion which will in turn have a positive effect on the functional skills of the students. It is an ideal opportunity for me to be involved in negotiations, considerations and to learn more about the ‘bigger picture’ within school. These will ultimately have an impact upon the future of the school itself- something that I want to be a part of.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending a lot of time with my family and friends, as well as trying to fit in Yoga and gym lessons. I play an active role in my daughter’s kickboxing club and I enjoy going to music festivals and concerts. If I get a spare moment after all of this, I love to read.
